Wellness Care

WELLNESS CARE

At Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital, we’re passionate about preventive medicine for pets. Similar to humans, there are many benefits to initiating and maintaining preventive care for your pets. In addition to preventing infectious disease, routine exams and blood tests each year can help us catch medical conditions in the early stages, which gives your pet the best chance to live a happy, full life.

VACCINATIONS

Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital offers vaccination services. A consistent schedule of vaccinations helps protect your dogs and cats from preventable diseases like Rabies, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Feline Herpes, Feline Leukemia and many more. We will send reminders to you when vaccinations need to be updated. We also provide a convenient patient portal, where you can log in and check the status of your pet’s vaccines, and other important pet health information.

MICROCHIPPING

Microchipping your pets is the number one way to ensure they can be identified and returned to you if they get lost. We offer effective, affordable microchipping services, and the procedure is safe and fast, and similar to getting a vaccine. A tiny implant the size of a grain of rice is inserted under your pet’s skin typically near the shoulders. This tiny implant will emit a frequency only when it is close to the microchip scanning device, and it will present a number tied to your pet’s information in a microchipping company’s database. Once the chip is inserted, we will initiate your pet’s account online, and complete the contract information for you. After that first year, you will need topay a modest fee each year to continue the coverage.

PARASITE PREVENTION

Harm from parasites to a pet’s health can range from minor irritation to serious conditions that, if untreated, can be fatal. Parasites can also pose a threat to human health. Some pet parasites are zoonotic, meaning they can be transferred from pets to people.  Parasites are organisms that feed on (ectoparasites) or within (endoparasites) other animals. Fleas and ticks are the most well-known offenders, but they are only part of the picture. Other common parasites include mites, lice, heartworm and a multitude of intestinal and other parasites.  At Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital we offer various options for parasite prevention for both dogs and cats.
